Cyberpunk shopkeeper sim · version 1.0

Probably Stolen Wiki

You are a former scavenger running a loan-funded storefront on a corrupt space station. Every customer at the window brings something to price, and the rent rises whether the week went well or not. Look up what an item is worth, who sells it and who will take it off your hands.

What Probably Stolen asks of a new shopkeeper

Look up an item

Search the ledger for base value, the places an item turns up and the customers who buy that type of goods before you agree to a price.

Survive the first week

Rent is collected every week and rises each time. Stock what sells, scavenge the Dumping Grounds and keep cash back for rent day.

Plan the buyout

The deed starts at 12,000 Credits on Price Gouge and Mark Up, 24,000 on Thin Margins and 36,000 on Red Ink. A loan-shark mortgage is the other way in.

Base value is where an offer starts, not the price you will get. The buyer, the item's condition and your difficulty move the final number.

Every deal is a choice

Each sale can be approved, refused, reported to Security or ignored, and someone is always watching. You can also cut a product's quality, relabel counterfeits as genuine or fence stolen goods, at the risk of Security raids and mob justice in the Lower Levels.

Check before you pay

Cybernetic Hand Appraisal Guide open beside a magnified gold-plated hand and the Appraisal Service estimate panel
Cigarette packs need a visual check, water has to be tested and filtered, weapons need permits and rare goods need an appraisal. The in-game guides do the heavy lifting: the cybernetic hand guide starts every hand at 100 Credits and never lets one fall below 50.

Not every customer is human

Augs are hosts taken over by a rogue AI chip. Security's identification guide lists a visible chip, unusual pupils and an uncanny expression, plus stillness, twitching and overly formal speech.
